Humphreys will compete in both the IMOCA Open 60 and the VX40 grand prix circuits in 2005-06. Combining both the inshore grand prix racing and the offshore Open 60 sailing will provide a greater resource for training, team development and performance.

Conrad Humphreys Skipper
Conrad Humphreys, 32, from Devon, began his ocean racing career in 1991 by joining the Youth Challenge Whitbread 60 Campaign for the 1993/94 Whitbread Round-the-World Race. Then in 1994 Humphreys enrolled at the University of Plymouth to study Ocean Science with Meteorology for three years. He led his university team to victory in the BUSA National Yachting Championships. In 2000 / 01, at the age of 26, Conrad competed in the BT Global Challenge, which he won quite convincingly, winning 4/7 legs. In March 2002, Humphreys established his own management company, CHR Ltd. With this foundation in place, Conrad launched his solo career, the main ambition being to compete in the non-stop single-handed round the world Vendée Globe yacht race in November 2004. Since 2002 he has competed in many international solo races, and has been backed by the communications giant Motorola since 2003.
Leigh McMillan Helmsman
Leigh started in Optimists at an early age, he was born in 1980 and progressed through the RYA squads to make the Europeans team in 94 and Worlds team in 95. At 16 years old he progressed to the Laser Radial where won the Youth Nationals in 1997, and finished 5th at the world championships in 1998. Leigh then made the move to two hulls in 1999 when he started sailing a Hobie 16; he was selected in his first year to represent the UK in the Youth Worlds in South Africa where he finished a credible 6th. Leigh then made the big move into Tornados in 1999 where he finished 2nd in the Torbole regatta and then in 2000 was training partner at the Olympics in Sydney. He then made the move to the RYA World-Class Performance sailing team at the 2001 World Championships finishing a highly credible 9th place. As a result of the silver medal at the 2003 World Championships Leigh was selected to represent Great Britain at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.
Hamish Oliphant Crew
Hamish, British born in 1975, has over 20 years of sailing experience, of which 10 years has been yacht racing with approximately 60,000 Miles logged. 7 years of this has been skippering racing yachts, including the Volvo 60 “Spirit.” Navigator of BG Spirit, winner of Global Challenge 2004-5.
Will Howden Crew
Will was born in the UK in 1977, he studied Naval Architecture at Southampton Institute followed by Yacht and Power Craft Design. It was during these University years that he started Olympic sailing in the Tornado and has done many competitive regattas over the last 5 years, including 2nd in the Tornado worlds and winner of the Volvo champions series. He got to know Mitch and Herbert and took over coaching them for the Olympic games. His experience is not limited to dinghies as he has accumulated many miles offshore sailing onboard PlayStation with skipper Steve Fossett on which a Trans Atlantic World Record of 9 Days 13 Hours and 31 Min was set.
